Csokas Wins, Two Record Provisionals at Pittsburg State Tune-Up

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Harding men's track and field, ranked 19th nationally, continued its preparation for the national meet Saturday at the Pittsburg State University Tune-Up.  The highlights for the Bisons included an event victory in the 400-meter hurdles by freshman Nikolasz Csokas and NCAA provisionals from freshman Dakarai Bush in the 110-meter hurdles and junior Austin Parrish in the pole vault.

Below is a summary of Harding's performances in each event:

400 meters
Freshman Fallou Gaye placed second in 48.13. It was just off his season-best time of 48.05 that ranks second on Harding's top performers list. Micah Swedberg of Nebraska-Kearney won in 48.09.

800 meters
Freshman Thibault Waeles placed second in a season-best 1:51.96. His previous best was 1:52.22 at the Texas Relays. It was just off the NCAA provisional time of 1:51.87. Ethan Lang of Fort Hays State won in 1:51.64.

110-meter hurdles
Freshman Dakarai Bush placed third of eight runners with a personal-best and NCAA provisional 14.36 seconds. Coming into the weekend, his time would rank 19th in Division II. His previous best was 14.60 seconds. It moved him into third place on Harding's career performers list in the 110 hurdles behind only Dwayne Allen (13.81, 1981) and Jon Newby (14.3, 1991). Louis Rollins of Pittsburg State won the race in 14.18 seconds.

400-meter hurdles
Freshman Nikolasz Csokas won the race in 53.78 seconds, just off his best time of 53.13. It was his second career victory in the 400 hurdles, also winning at the Hendrix Invitational.

4x400-meter relay
The Harding team of Dakarai Bush, Nikolasz Csokas, Thibault Waeles and Fallou Gaye placed third in 3:14.19, the fastest mile relay time by Harding this season. Northwest Missouri State won in 3:11.02.

Pole Vault
Junior Austin Parrish was the highest of three Harding vaulters, placing third with a personal-best and NCAA provisional clearance of 5.12 meters. Parrish moved into second place on Harding career performers list, behind teammate Dorian Chaigneau's 5.30 meters. Chaigneau placed sixth Saturday with a clearance of 5.02 meters. Junior Alex Hindman was eighth at 4.82 meters. Vincent Hobbie of Central Missouri won at 5.22 meters.

Hammer
Senior Mitchell Kessler placed fifth with a mark of 58.86 meters on the second of his six throws. It was short of his school-record 59.90 meters at the Texas Relays. Freshman Kenneth Hatley placed 11th at 50.45 meters. Travis Petersen of Missouri Southern won at 66.16 meters.
