Harding's Gaye Runs Second in Hurdles at Maroon and White Invitational

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Freshman Fallou Gaye and junior Austin Parrish both turned in top-five finishes over the weekend at the Mississippi State Maroon and White Invitational, a tune-up meet for Harding as it prepares for the Division II national meet.

Below are event summaries for each of Harding's competitors.

Hammer Throw
Senior Mitchell Kessler placed ninth with freshman Kenneth Hatley 16th. Kessler's fourth of six tosses sailed 56.19 meters. His personal best and school record of 59.90 meters came earlier this season at the Texas Relays. Hatley's second of three throws landed at 46.74 meters. His season best is 53.96 meters at Rhodes.

Pole Vault
Junior Austin Parrish matched his career-best height, clearing 5.12 meters to place third. Freshman Jonathon Wall set a new career best by clearing an NCAA provisional height of 4.87 meters and placing fourth. His previous high was 4.70 meters. Wall is the fifth Harding pole vaulter to clear the provisional height this season. Matt Hipshire, Zalen Robinson and Alex Hindman did not clear a height. Michael Carr, a former collegian at Arkansas State, and Bradley Jelmert, currently at Arkansas State, tied for the victory at 5.22 meters.

Shot Put
Senior Matt Hipshire placed 10th with a toss of 11.08 meters. His career-best mark is 11.84 meters. Freshman Zalen Robinson was 11th at 9.48 meters. Daniel Viveros of Ole Miss won at 18.06 meters.

100 meters
Freshman Krishaun Watson placed 16th in 10.98 seconds. He set his personal best of 10.89 at the GAC Championship meet. Keshaun Black of Meridian Community College won in 10.40.

800 meters
Freshman Thibault Waeles finished with a personal-best and NCAA provisional time of 1:51.17 to place 13th. It was his first NCAA provisional time this season, and he moved up to fourth on Harding's top career performers list in the 800. He set his previous best of 1:51.96 last weekend at Pittsburg State. Marco Arop, an unattached runner, won the event in 1:44.76.

110 hurdles
Freshman Dakarai Bush placed seventh in 14.64 seconds, his personal best in a non-wind-aided race. His wind-aided personal best is 14.36. Jesse Henderson of Mississippi State won in 13.64 seconds.

400 hurdles
Freshman Fallou Gaye placed second in 52.31 seconds. His season-best time was a school-record 51.99 at the Texas Relays. Freshman Nikolasz Csokas set a new personal best at 53.05 to place fourth. His previous best was 53.13 at the GAC Championship. Landon Chalden of Southern Mississippi won in 51.73.

4x400 relay
Harding's team of Dakarai Bush, Nikolasz Csokas, Thibault Waeles and Fallou Gaye placed third in 3:15.14. The team's best time of the season is 3:14.19 at Pittsburg State. Mississippi State won the event in 3:10.23.
