Seven-Run Third Propels Softball Past East Central

ADA, Okla. – The Harding softball team completed the series sweep of East Central Saturday after a 9-2 win in Great American Conference actions. The Lady Bisons won both games of the doubleheader Friday.

Harding improves to 30-11 overall and 21-9 in the GAC. It is the sixth time since the program restarted in 2014 that Harding has won 30 or more games in a season.

With one series left, the Lady Bisons sit tied for third place in the GAC standings. Harding is set to host league leading Southeastern Oklahoma Thursday and Friday due to Harding's commencement on Saturday. The series was scheduled to be played in Searcy Feb. 26-27 but was postponed due to COVID. The Lady Bisons will be fighting for seeding in the upcoming GAC Tournament May 14-15 in Bentonville, Arkansas.

East Central falls to 17-22 overall and 13-20 in the GAC.


Key Innings (Harding 9, East Central 2)

-         B1 – East Central got on the board first when Megan Lesko hit a sacrifice fly to left that scored Jayna Reid. (East Central 1, Harding 0)

-         T2 – Madison Fraley hit a single up the middle that scored Faith Waugh (Harding 1, East Central 1)

-         B2 – Vanessa Tamayo hit a solo home run to left center.  (East Central 2, Harding 1)

-         T3 – Harding scored seven runs on five hits and two errors. Amanda Fields highlighted the inning when she hit a three-run home run to center field. It was her second of the series and her team-leading seventh of the season. Nicole Shano, Makenzie Chappell, Jordan Cabana and Hanna Jones all had RBIs in the inning (Harding 8, East Central 2)

-         T5 – Kendall Tramel scored on a wild pitch. (Harding 9, East Central 2)

 
Key Statistics

-         Harding had 10 hits in the game led by Amanda Fields who went 2-for-4. The Lady Bisons got a hit from each starter in the game.

-         East Central had five hits by five different players.

-         The Tigers had four errors in the game.

-         Lily Tanski got the win for Harding to improve to 19-6 on the season. It was her 16th complete game. She gave up one earned run and struck out a career-high 12 batters. It was also the second time this season she has had 10 or more. She had 10 against Shorter to start the season.

-         Taryn O'Brien received the loss for East Central and falls to 1-5 on the season.
