Harding Baseball Sweeps East Central with 14-1 Victory

SEARCY – Harding sent 14 batters to the plate in an eight-run sixth inning to give the Bisons a 14-1 victory to finish off a three-game sweep of East Central Saturday at Jerry Moore Field. It was Harding's fourth win in five Great American Conference home series this season.

The Bisons concluded the regular season 23-17 overall and 18-15 in the GAC and are the No. 6 seed in the GAC Tournament. Harding's season will continue Friday at No. 3 seed Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee, Oklahoma. East Central finished 4-36 overall and 4-29 in conference.

Harding led 6-1 entering the sixth. David Butterfield led off the inning with a triple and Harrison Heffley followed that with a double. Michael Chrisman had a two-run double in the inning. East Central pitchers hit four consecutive Harding batters. The Tigers used four different pitchers in the inning, and by the time the dust cleared, Harding was well on its way to its 13th victory in its last 14 home games against East Central.

Harding scored two in the first and added four more in the third with Connor Kelly's two-run double providing the big blow in the inning.

Senior Logan McCall (1-3) had his best start of the season, pitching six innings and allowing only one unearned run on four hits with no walks and six strikeouts. Zach Bilek pitched a scoreless seventh in relief.

Heffley led the Bisons with a 4-for-5 effort with three runs and two RBIs. It was his second four-hit game of the season and included his 11th double. Heffley has hits in his last 11 games.

Butterfield was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, pushing his average to .407 for the season. He has reached base in Harding's last 28 games.

Kelly had his 11th double and went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. It was his team-leading 15th multiple-RBI game.

Chrisman's sixth-inning double extended his hitting streak to 12 games, the longest by a Bison this season.
