Southeastern's Second-Half Spurt Sinks Harding

SEARCY – Southeastern Oklahoma's dribble penetration led to layups and free throws in the second half and the Savage Storm defeated Harding 84-75 Saturday in Great American Conference action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

Harding dropped to 7-4 overall and 3-3 in the GAC. Southeastern won both games on its Arkansas road trip and improved to 5-7 overall and 3-3 in conference.

Southeastern shot 67% in the second half and made 14 of 15 free throws to erase a six-point halftime deficit. Harding led by as many as 13 points in the second quarter, but Southeastern scored 48 points in the paint, 28 of them in the second half.

Sage Hawley led Harding with 21 points on 10-of-16 shooting. Aubrey Isbell added 12 points and Jacie Evans scored 11. It was Hawley's fifth 20-point game of the season.

Harding used separate 9-0 runs in each of the first two quarters to build a 37-31 halftime lead.

Southeastern shot better than Harding in the first half. The Savage Storm shot 44% from the field but missed all four 3-point attempts. Harding shot 37% but made 4 of 10 from 3-point range.

Hawley led all scorers with 11 points in the first half.

Kamryn Cantwell led Southeastern with 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Kentoya Woods scored all 17 of her points in the second half and did not miss a shot, going 6-of-6 from the field, 2-of-2 from 3-point range and 3-of-3 at the foul line.

Harding travels to Oklahoma next weekend, taking on Oklahoma Baptist Thursday in Shawnee and Southern Nazarene Saturday in Bethany.
