Currie Leads Harding to Victory over Champion Christian

SEARCY – Harding junior Taylor Currie scored the first six points of the Bisons's game Saturday against Champion Christian and just kept on scoring. He finished with 27 points in Harding's 106-72 victory in nonconference action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

It was Harding's highest-scoring game since posting 112 points at Southeastern Oklahoma in 2017, and the team's most points at home since a 107-54 victory over Shepherd Film Academy in 2010.

Harding improved to 4-0 to start the season for the first time since winning its first six straight during the 2012-13 season. The game was an exhibition for Champion Christian, a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association, located in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Currie shot 11 of 17 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line. He has scored more than 20 points in all four games this season and 12 times in his career.

Senior Sam Henderson and freshman Rylie Marshall both shot 6 of 7 from the field and scored 14 points. Redshirt freshman Hrvoje Majcunic added 12 points.

Harding had 19 offensive rebounds and outrebounded Champion 52-32. The Bisons outscored the Tigers 60-36 in the paint.

Harding led 10-0 early, but Champion answered with a 14-2 run that put the Tigers ahead 21-18 with 9:40 left in the half.

Currie ended the run with a three-point play that jumpstarted a 19-5 Harding run. Currie's layup with 2:53 left gave the Bisons a 39-28 lead.

Five straight points from reserve guard Rylie Marshall pushed Harding's lead to 44-31, its largest of the half.

Matija Milivojevic hit a late jumper to give the Bisons a 46-33 lead at halftime.

Harding outscored Champion 60-39 in the second half.

Harding's next action is Friday, Nov. 25 at Arkansas-Fort Smith.
