The Harding men's tennis team took down their second ranked opponent of the season, beating No. 20-ranked UT-Tyler 4-3 in the morning, before blanking UT-Dallas 7-0 in the afternoon on Friday in Dallas, Texas. Harding improves to 4-0 on the year while UT-Tyler fell to 1-2 and UT-Dallas fell to 1-1.
In doubles action, the Bisons swept the Patriots to take an early 1-0 lead. Alvaro de Lorenzo and
Morgan Salvan played their first match at the No. 1 line and defeated the No. 9-ranked doubles team in Division II, 7-5.
Arthur Bellan and
Dani Ortiz teamed up to win at No. 2, 6-2.
Milosh Petrovic and
Cas de Ruiter won at No. 3, 6-2.
Salvan pushed the Bisons lead to 2-0 with 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 4. Petrovic won at No. 6, 7-5, 6-0 to put the Bisons just one singles match victory away from taking the match. After falling at No. 2,
Bryce Walker won the match for the Bisons with his third straight victory at No. 5, winning 1-6, 6-4, 6-4.
The win was the fourth straight victory of UT-Tyler for the Bisons, dating back to February 22, 2002.
After a couple hours break, the Bisons returned to the court to take on UT-Dallas and jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Bisons won the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Bellan and Ortiz won their third straight match 6-0 at No. 2 while de Ruiter and Petrovic won 6-4 at No. 3.
The Bisons didn't drop a single set in the six singles victories. Ortiz won at No. 1, 7-5, 6-2. Salvan won his fourth straight match 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2. De Lorenzo won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3.
Bryce Walker remained perfect in dual matches with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 4. Petrovic won comfortably 6-1, 6-0 and
Axel Le Ho made his debut in a dual match, winning 6-3, 7-5 at No. 6.
The Bisons will take on Dallas Baptist on Saturday morning beginning at 11 a.m.
