Harding Drops Midweek Matchup with Williams Baptist

SEARCY, Ark. – Harding had five players record multiple hits Tuesday but suffered a 12-9 loss to Williams Baptist in nonconference action at Jerry Moore Field. The Bisons return to Great American Conference play this weekend against Oklahoma Baptist.

With the score tied at 8-8, Williams Baptist took the lead with a two-out, two-run single in the seventh. Harding (11-10) answered with a run in the eighth on Drew McNeel's RBI single, but Williams Baptist tacked on two more in the ninth.

Michael Dewald extended his hitting streak to nine games with a 3-for-4 effort. It was his third three-hit game of the season and included his eighth double.

Chris Witzke, Cody Smith, Coulton Doyle and Sawyer Price had two hits each. Doyle launched his team-leading eighth home run of the season as part of Harding's six-run third inning. Smith had two doubles, his sixth and seventh of the season.

Harding used five pitchers in the game with Williams Baptist scoring at least one run against each. Ross Shirey (0-1) took the loss.

GAME NOTES
» Harding left 13 runners stranded on base in the loss, its second-highest total of the season.
» Dewald stole two bases in Tuesday's game, the fourth time a Harding player stole two bases in the same game this season.
