RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the Softball Weekly awards for the seventh week of the 2022 season. Harding's Nicole Shano won Player of the Week and Arkansas-Monticello's Averie Gunther earned Pitcher of the Week.
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Nicole Shano, Harding, 3B, Jr., Peoria, Arizona
Shano guided the Lady Bisons to a three-game sweep of Oklahoma Baptist that kept them one game back of first place. She reached base nine times in 14 plate appearances. She doubled twice in game two and homered in the finale. She drove in eight runs in the series. Her 33 RBI lead the conference.
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Averie Gunther, Arkansas-Monticello, RHP, Fr., Wylie, Texas
Gunther picked up two wins as the Blossoms earned a series win against Southeastern Oklahoma State. She appeared in all three games and struck out 10 across 8.0 innings of work. In a Wednesday relief stint against Delta State, she threw 2.0 scoreless frames and struck out three. For the week, she produced a 1.40 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 10.0 innings in the circle.
