Witzke Runs Hitting Streak to 19 Games in HU Loss to Northwestern Oklahoma

SEARCY – Harding struggled to drive in runs Saturday and fell 10-1 to Northwestern Oklahoma in the final game of a three-game Great American Conference series at Jerry Moore Field. Harding won both games of a doubleheader Friday.

The Bisons dropped to 24-15 overall and 15-12 in conference games. Harding plays again Tuesday at home against Union University, and travels to Southwestern Oklahoma in GAC action next weekend.

Harding went 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position Saturday and stranded 11 runners in the game.

Northwestern, who went 10-for-17 with runners in scoring position, scored five runs in the both the fourth and ninth innings.

Harding's run came in the fifth. With two outs, Coulton Doyle singled to left. Pinch-hitter Zak Whitis reached on catcher's interference, moving Doyle to second. Chris Witzke followed with a single to center to score Doyle and extend his school-record hitting streak to 19 games.

Doyle laced his team-leading 14th double of the season in the seventh for his 13th multi-hit game. Sawyer Price was 2-for-4 for his fourth multi-hit game.
