SEARCY – The Harding softball team came up short Tuesday as they fell to Arkansas Tech 2-0 in Great American Conference action at the HU Softball Field.
Arkansas Tech won the series 3-0 after defeating the Lady Bisons both games in a GAC doubleheader on March 9.
The Golden Suns move into second place in the GAC standings with the win and Harding falls to third.
The Lady Bisons fall to 27-11 overall and 14-7 in the GAC.
Arkansas Tech improves to 25-14 overall and 15-6 in the GAC.
Sophomore Maegan Pistokache (10-4) started and took the loss in the circle for Harding. The right-hander went six innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on seven hits, allowing no walks and striking out two. Sophomore Abby Burch came out of the bullpen and threw one shutout inning.
Four different Lady Bisons had a hit in the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Arkansas Tech scored in the second on a sacrifice fly to left.
Harding had the bases loaded in the sixth but couldn't produce a run.
The Golden Suns added another run in the seventh on a solo homerun by Brooke Prewitt.
GAME NOTES
» Harding pitchers faced 28 Arkansas Tech hitters, allowing seven ground balls and nine fly balls while striking out four.
» Arkansas Tech was led offensively by junior Brooke Prewitt, who went 1-for-2 with a home run and an RBI.
» Shannon Lasey threw the complete game shutout for the Golden Suns. She improves to 10-5 on the season.
Harding will be back in action this weekend when it travels to Magnolia, Arkansas to take on Southern Arkansas in a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m.
