The No. 29-ranked Harding women's tennis team opened with a strong doubles performance before faltering in singles action and fell to No. 48-ranked Southeastern Oklahoma State in the GAC Women's Tennis Tournament Championship on Sunday (May 1) in Bentonville.

The Lady Bisons had their eight-match win streak snapped and fell to 18-5 on the season while the Savage Storm improved to 20-7.

The Lady Bisons jumped out early in the match, winning the first two doubles matches quickly to take the early 1-0 lead.
Romane Britt and
Lindy Carpenter earned their third straight victory with a 6-2 win at No. 2.
Emily Carpenter and
Allison Jenkins earned their eighth victory of the season with a 6-3 win at No. 3 to clinch the point.

The Savage Storm bounced back strong in singles action, winning the first four singles matches in straight sets.
Emily Carpenter and Britt fell 6-1, 6-2 in their matches at No. 4 and No. 3.
Lina Romero fell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 while
Lindy Carpenter fell 7-6, 6-1 at No. 5.
Allison Carpenter split the first two sets in her match at No. 6 before play was stopped.
Grace Dodd won the first set at No. 1 before the match was clinched.

The Lady Bisons will wait for the NCAA Regional Tournament to be announced on Tuesday, May 3 to see when and where they will play next week. The Lady Bisons were ranked No. 3 in the final Central Regional Rankings that were released on Thursday (April 28). The top six teams will make the Central Regional Tournament, which will take play on May 6-7.
