SHAWNEE, Okla. – Bouncing back from only its third Great American Conference loss of the season Thursday, Harding took the lead early against Oklahoma Baptist and left no doubt about the final outcome.
Junior Sage Hawley scored 27 points and sophomore Rory Geer added 13, and the Lady Bisons won 66-47 Saturday at the Noble Complex. It was the fourth time in the last five games that Harding held its opponent below 50 points.
Harding improved to 18-6 overall and 14-3 in the conference games with its ninth straight victory over Oklahoma Baptist, who fell to 13-10 overall and 9-8 in the GAC.
Hawley shot 12-of-26 from the field and notched her 10th 20-point game of the season. She also led the team with nine rebounds and three steals. The Lady Bisons held a 36-16 advantage in the paint.
Harding shot 6-of-13 in the first quarter and made two 3-pointers to lead 18-13 after one. All four of Oklahoma Baptist's field goals in the quarter were 3-pointers.
Harding pushed its lead to 33-27 at halftime. The Lady Bisons led by as many as 12 in the quarter but a 7-0 trimmed Harding's lead to one before Jacie Evans hit a free throw with no time left.
The Lady Bisons limited Oklahoma Baptist to only 22% shooting in the third and held a 17-10 scoring advantage in the period. Harding led 50-37 going to the fourth.
Harding led by as many as 21 points in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Bisons continue a very busy stretch Monday when it hosts Arkansas Tech at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
