Gautreaux Posts Pole Vault Provisional at Gorilla Classic

PITTSBURG, Kan. – One event victory and one NCAA provisional mark were among the highlights for the Harding women's indoor track and field team over the weekend at the Eighth Annual Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State.

Meet Highlights

Freshman Kaia Bieker turned in a top-15 finish, placing 15th in the 800 meters in 2:15.19.
Junior Nieves Megias placed 13th in the 3,000 meters in 10:20.70.
Harding's relay teams both finished in the top 10. The team of Lauren Shell, Briana Johnson, Jayden Ellerman and Jenna Akins placed ninth in the 4x400 relay in 3:55.60.
Harding's distance medley relay team of Bieker, Ellerman, Josie Parks and Megias placed ninth in 12:23.66.
Sophomore Kiera Blankinship and senior Brylan Williams were both top 15 in the invitational high jump. Blankinship placed 11th, clearing 1.58 meters or 5 feet, 2.25 inches. Williams placed 13th, clearing the same height but with more misses.
Shell placed 10th in the open high jump, clearing 1.51 meters or 4 feet, 11.50 inches.
Senior Sarah Gautreaux placed fifth in the invitational pole vault, clearing an NCAA provisional and PR height of 3.83 meters or 12 feet, 6.75 inches.
Freshman Ella Strickland won the open pole vault. She cleared 3.63 meters or 11 feet, 10.75 inches.
Harding placed two in the top 10 in the triple jump. Junior Mariah Miller placed seventh with a mark of 11.63 meters or 38 feet, 2 inches, only a quarter of an inch off her school record. Akins placed ninth with a mark of 11.29 meters or 37 feet, 0.50 inches.
