The Harding women's tennis team dropped a non-conference matchup at Arkansas Tech 5-2 on Wednesday in Russellville. The Lady Bisons fell to 2-4 while Arkansas Tech improved to 2-0.
Arkansas Tech jumped out to the early 2-0 lead after sweeping the doubles action and a straight sets victory at No. 6 singles.
Karli Roux got the Lady Bisons on the board with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 3. The win was Roux's second straight and third overall in dual matches this season.
Arkansas Tech responded with a win at No. 1 before
Jing Jing Yang won a tight match, 7-6, 3-6, 12-10 at No. 4 to bring the match score to 3-2.
The Lady Bisons needed to win both remaining singles matches to take the match and fought to third set tiebreakers but fell short in both, giving the Golden Suns the 5-2 victory.
Harding will return to play this weekend in Dallas where they will play four matches in three days. The Lady Bisons will open the weekend with UT-Tyler on Friday (Feb. 17) beginning at 11 a.m.
