Camilo Porto's Scoring Streak Continues, but Harding Falls 3-1 to Delta State

CLEVELAND, Miss. – Fifth-year senior Camilo Porto scored for the fourth consecutive game Sunday, but Harding could not overcome three early Delta State goals and fell 3-1 to the Statesmen in nonconference action at Delta Field.
 
The loss dropped Harding to 2-2-1 on the season. Delta State, a member of the Division II Gulf South Conference, moved to 2-2-0.
 
Delta State scored goals in the 17th, 24th and 35th minutes to take a 3-0 lead. Porto notched his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 36th minute, but Harding got no closer.

TEAM NOTES
  • Harding managed only two shots in the game.
  • Of Harding's nine goals this season, Sunday's was only the second that came in the first half.
  • Harding has scored goals in the first five games of the season for the third time in program history and first time since 2018.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Camilo Porto scored in the fourth consecutive game for the first time in his career … the last Harding player to score in four straight games was Christian Ramos, who scored in six straight in 2019 … it was Porto's seventh career goal
  • Freshman Brandon Southard and junior Andrew Wagner played the entire 90 minutes … it was the second full 90 of the season for Southard and Wagner's third.
SERIES NOTES
  • Harding and Delta State met for the 18th time … Harding now leads the series 10-6-2 … Delta State has won the last three matchups.
