Harding Volleyball Drops 3-1 Decision to SWOSU

SEARCY, Ark. — Southwestern Oklahoma State secured sole possession of first place in the Great American Conference with a 3-1 victory over Harding on Thursday night at Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

The Bulldogs (12-6, 7-1 GAC) took control early, winning the first two sets 25-18, 25-18. Harding (13-7, 6-2 GAC) stayed alive with a 25-17 win in the third set but Southwestern Oklahoma closed out the match with a 25-20 victory in the fourth.

For Harding, Skyler McKinnon paced the offense with 16 kills, her sixth consecutive match with 10 or more kills. Delaney Garner and Jacey Lambert each contributed 10 kills. Garner also had three aces and two blocks. Olivia Wiedower had 42 assists, and Tatum Fouche led the defense with 17 digs. Avery Stanfill added 10 digs and three aces.

Lacy Mott led the Bulldogs with 19 kills, hitting .311, and added 13 digs. Zoey Sparks contributed 14 kills, hitting .400, and seven blocks. Hailey Smith chipped in nine kills, hitting .300. Terez Chavez recorded 28 assists.

The loss dropped Harding into second place in the conference standings, one game behind the Bulldogs. The Lady Bisons are back in action Friday at 4 p.m. when they host Northwestern Oklahoma.

1st Set: SWOSU 25, Harding 18
Southwestern Oklahoma State took control early, winning the first set 25-18. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind a service ace by Terez Chavez. SWOSU's strong serving and blocking limited Harding's offense.

2nd Set: SWOSU 25, Harding 18
Southwestern Oklahoma State controlled the second set, winning 25-18. The Bulldogs' Keke Holloway had a strong serving run, including two aces, to help build a 12-5 lead. SWOSU's Lacy Mott led the set with six kills.

3rd Set: Harding 25, SWOSU 17
Harding bounced back in the third set, winning 25-17. The Lady Bisons' Jacey Lambert had a strong set with seven kills, and Avery Stanfill served three aces to help Harding take control.

4th Set: SWOSU 25, Harding 18
Southwestern Oklahoma State closed out the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth set. The Bulldogs' Mott and Zoey Sparks combined for 10 kills, and SWOSU's blocking limited Harding's offense. SWOSU won the match 3-1.
