Harding Takes Down Northwestern Oklahoma 3-1

SEARCY, Ark. — Harding volleyball secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma on Friday, solidifying their position in second place in the Great American Conference.

The Lady Bisons (14-7, 7-2 GAC) dominated the Rangers (11-9, 5-4 GAC) in sets one, three, and four, winning 25-15, 25-17, and 25-12, respectively. Northwestern Oklahoma's sole win came in set two, 25-23.

Harding's offense was led by Jacey Lambert's 14 kills and a .257 hitting percentage. Skyler McKinnon added 13 kills with a season-high .464 hitting percentage. Delaney Garner contributed 10 kills, six blocks, and a .261 hitting percentage. Olivia Wiedower orchestrated the offense with 42 assists.

Northwestern Oklahoma's Mariela Jimenez paced the Rangers with 14 kills and a .423 hitting percentage, while Erika Asencio Soriano added 13 kills. Mikayla White distributed 26 assists.
The Bisons' strong blocking and defensive efforts proved pivotal, with Ashley Lamkin recording six blocks and Garner adding five. Tatum Fouche Tatum led the team with 26 digs, while Maegan Lacy added 20.

Harding's next action is Thursday, Oct. 24 at Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Oklahoma.

Set 1
Harding took the first set 25-15 against Northwestern Oklahoma. The set began with a tight exchange, with the score tied at 2-2. However, Harding then went on a 5-0 run, fueled by two service aces from Carter Fouche and kills from Lacy and Wiedowe to take a 7-2 lead. Harding continued to pull away, extending their lead to 16-7 with a 4-0 run capped by McKinnon's kill.
Northwestern Oklahoma scored five consecutive points, including two kills from Ozdemir to narrow the gap to 16-12. However, Harding responded with a 5-1 run, featuring kills from McKinnon and Lambert to re-establish to take a commanding lead at 21-13. Harding sealed the set with a final 4-1 run, highlighted by Garner's kill, to take the set 25-15.

Set 2
Northwestern Oklahoma bounced back to take the second set 25-23, evening the match at 1-1. The set began with Harding taking an early lead, fueled by a 4-1 run that included kills from Lambert and Lacy. However, Northwestern Oklahoma quickly tied the score at 4-4.
Harding then gained momentum with a 6-1 run, capped by McKinnon's kill, to take a 10-5 lead. But Northwestern Oklahoma mounted a 7-2 run to tie the set at 12-12.
The turning point came when Northwestern Oklahoma scored five consecutive points to turn a 23-20 deficit into a 25-23 set victory.

Set 3
The set was tightly contested early on, with 12 ties and neither team able to pull away. However, Harding gained momentum with a 5-0 run, capped by McKinnon's kill, to take a 16-11 lead. Northwestern Oklahoma committed crucial errors, including two attack errors, allowing Harding to extend their lead.
Harding continued to lead, with blocks from Garner and Lamkin and kills from McKinnon and Lambert. Harding's Tatum Fouche sealed the set with a service ace, securing the 25-17 victory.

Set 4
The set began closely contested, but Harding pulled away with a 10-1 run to take a 14-5 lead. Northwestern Oklahoma attempted to mount a late comeback, but Harding sealed the set 25-12, with Northwestern Oklahoma committing an attack error on match point.
