Harding Indoor Track and Field Team Kicks Off Season at Crimson and Gold Invitational

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Harding University indoor track and field team began its 2024-25 season at the Crimson and Gold Invitational, hosted by Pittsburg State University at the Robert W. Plaster Center. The event took place on a 300-meter flat track.

Highlights from the Event

The Harding men's team had a strong showing, with one tied school record and three NCAA provisional marks. To qualify for the indoor national track meet in March, athletes must achieve a provisional mark or time and rank among the top 20 nationally.

Senior Antiwain Jones (Marianna, Arkansas) tied his own school record in the high jump, clearing 2.15 meters (7-00.50) and securing an NCAA provisional mark. He finished second in the event, with his height currently ranking third nationally.

Junior Anton Kopytko (Dnipro, Ukraine) achieved an NCAA provisional mark in the long jump, landing 7.20m (23-7.50) on his third attempt. His mark currently ranks 15th in NCAA II.

Senior Savian Bush (Tatum, Texas) recorded Harding's third provisional mark in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing seventh in 8.06 seconds. His time is currently the eighth-fastest in NCAA II.

Other notable performances by Bison student-athletes included:

Derick St. Jean's seventh-place finish in the 300 meters (34.22)

Samuel Williams' eighth-place finish in the 400 meters (49.25)

The 4x400-meter relay team's fifth-place finish (Williams, Donald Nwamere, Bush, and St. Jean) with a time of 3:16.13

Kylor Aguilar's eighth-place finish in the pole vault (4.73m, 15-6.25)

Spencer Helms' eighth-place finish in the shot put (15.86m, 52-0.25) and ninth-place finish in the weight throw (16.56m, 54-4)

The Harding University indoor track and field team will compete next at the Samford Invitational, hosted by Samford University at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama, on Saturday, January 18.
