Harding Extends Home Streak to 25, Beats Tech 80-65

SEARCY – Aubrey Isbell led Harding with 20 points, Sage Hawley recorded her 50th career double-double and Kendrick Bailey drilled four 3-pointers in an 80-65 victory over Arkansas Tech on Thursday in women's action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

With the victory, Harding improved to 21-2 overall and 16-1 in conference, remaining tied with Southern Nazarene for the top spot in the conference with five GAC games remaining. It was Harding's 25th straight win at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House and fourth straight victory over Arkansas Tech. The Golden Suns fell to 10-11 overall and 7-10 in conference.

After Harding led 41-30 at halftime, Tech trimmed the Harding lead to five points twice early in the third quarter, but a pair of baskets from Hawley and a layup from Isbell pushed the lead to 52-40 with 2:45 left in the quarter. A 3-pointer and a buzzer beater in the last minute from Rory Geer gave the Lady Bisons a 57-44 lead entering the final quarter.

Bailey hit two early 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, and the Lady Bisons pulled away.

Isbell made 8-of-12 shots, including two 3-pointers, for her second 20-point game of the season.

Hawley added 12 points and 12 rebounds and became only the second active Division II player with 50 or more career double-doubles. It was her 11th of the season. In addition, she passed Molly McPherson (1,606 points, 1995-99) for fourth on Harding's career scoring list.

Bailey drained four from long-range, her fourth game with four or more 3-pointers this season, and scored 12 points. Josie Williams added 11 points, and Geer had nine points and eight rebounds.

Harding started strong with three consecutive 3-pointers and took a 15-8 lead with 3:23 to go in the first quarter. Maddi Holt added another 3-pointer after breaking the Tech press, and Harding ended the first quarter with a 22-12 advantage.

Tech narrowed the gap to 29-21 with 7:26 left in the second quarter, but Harding responded with a put-back layup by Williams and a coast-to-coast lay-in by Geer, extending the lead to 33-21 with 5:21 on the clock. The teams exchanged baskets for the rest of the half, and Harding entered the intermission with a nine-point edge. The key stat of the half was Harding's dominance on the offensive glass, grabbing 10 rebounds and scoring 14 second-chance points.

Harding's next action is Saturday on the road at Southern Arkansas. Tip-off is at 3 p.m.
