Harding Falls to Arkansas Tech in GAC Men's Basketball Clash

SEARCY – Harding faced a challenging seven-minute drought without a field goal early in the second half, proving insurmountable in an 89-66 loss to Arkansas Tech in Great American Conference men's action on Thursday at Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

Despite winning its previous five home games, Harding fell to 11-12 overall and 8-9 in the GAC with this loss, leaving the Bisons in a four-way tie for fourth place in the conference standings.

Harding narrowed an 11-point Tech lead to 35-33 with a 9-0 run, highlighted by layups from Abou Gbane, Dylan Munroe, and Brahm Harris. However, the Bisons failed to score a field goal in the last 3:30 of the first half, heading into halftime trailing 46-40.

Sam Smith's jumper at 18:40 left in the game brought Harding to 50-44 behind. The Bisons' next field goal came from a Gbane dunk at 11:49, as Tech extended its lead to 65-50.

Tech's 63% shooting in the second half propelled them to a 17-6 overall record and 13-4 in conference play, securing the Wonder Boys' position in second place in the GAC.

Rylie Marshall led Harding with 21 points, 19 of which were scored in the first half. He connected on four 3-pointers and went 7-of-7 from the free-throw line, while Gbane contributed 13 points.

Harding will face Southern Arkansas on Saturday in Magnolia. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
