SMYRNA, Tenn. – The Harding softball team split its two games Friday on the first day of the Music City Invitational hosted by Trevecca. The Lady Bisons shutout Davenport in the first game 1-0 but fell to Illinois Springfield 5-3 in the second game.

Harding moves to 5-5 on the season.

Davenport falls to 0-1 on the season and Illinois Springfield improves to 5-1.

GAME ONE (Harding 1, Davenport 0)

Abby Burch threw her first complete game shutout of the season. She improves to 2-2 on the season. Burch didn't allow an earned run and struck out six.

Emma Curry led Harding going 2-for-3 with the only RBI in the game. Lana Danielson also went 2-for-3 for the Lady Bisons.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Harding got on the board in the bottom of the first inning on three hits and an error. Emma Curry hit a single to the shortstop that scored Riley Price from second.

GAME NOTES

-          Harding had seven different players that had a hit.

-          Harding out hit Davenport 9-7.

-          Harding left 10 runners on base in the game. Davenport left seven.

-          Cecelia Bell received the loss for the Panthers. She gave up nine hits and had one strikeout.

-          Riley Hasseld led Davenport at the plate going 3-for-3.

GAME TWO (Illinois Springfield 5, Harding 3)

Riley Price came out of the pen and received the loss. She falls to 3-3 on the season. She went 3 2/3 innings and struck out two.

Chelsea Blankenship led Harding going 2-for-2 with two RBI. Macy Ham also collected two hits in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Harding got on the board in the top of the first when Chelsea Blankenship hit a double that scored Macy Ham from second.

The Lady Bisons made it 2-0 in the third when Blankenship hit a sacrifice fly to center that scored Jordan Cabana.

Illinois Springfield got a run back in the bottom of the third on three hits and a Harding error.

The Prairie Stars tied the game in the fourth on a single.

Harding took the lead again in the fifth when Tori Turner scored on a wild pitch.

Illinois Springfield took a 5-3 lead in the fifth scoring three runs on three hits. Rosie Bartletti had a two RBI single in the inning.

GAME NOTES

-          Illinois Springfield out hit Harding 8-6.

-          Four different Harding players had a hit in the game.

-          Harding left nine runners on base.

-          Relief pitcher Rosie Bartletti came out of the pen and pitched three innings. She had four strikeouts and didn't allow an earned run.

Harding will be back in action Saturday when it faces Ferris State at 2 p.m., and Tiffin at 4 p.m.
