SMYRNA, Tenn. – The Harding softball team scored 26 runs on the second day of the Music City Invitational hosted by Trevecca Saturday. Harding defeated Ferris State 9-2 and then defeated Tiffin 17-2 in five innings.

Harding improves to 7-5 on the season.

Ferris State drops to 1-4 and Tiffin falls to 2-2.

GAME ONE (Harding 9, Ferris State 2)

Riley Price started and got the win for Harding. She improves to 5-3 on the season. She threw four innings and struck out four. Michaela Brown came in and pitched one shutout innings of middle relief. Abby Burch closed the game, pitching two innings.

Emma Curry led the Lady Bisons going 3-for-3 with three RBI and four runs scored. Macy Ham and Jordan Cabana each had two hits in the game for Harding.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Ferris State opened the game scoring a run in the top of the first inning.

Harding answered back scoring five runs on four hits and two errors in the bottom of the first. Emma Curry highlighted the inning with a three-run homer.

The Lady Bisons made it 7-1 in the third, scoring two runs on two hits and two errors. Kaya Lee and Macy Ham each had an RBI in the inning.

Lana Danielson made it 8-1 Harding in the fourth inning when she drove in Emma Curry.

Ferris State scored its second run of the game in the sixth inning on a single.

Harding scored its final run of the game in the sixth when Emma Curry tripled and then scored on an error.

GAME NOTES

-          Harding had seven players with a hit in the game.

-          Harding outhit Ferris State 11-6.

-          It was the fourth time this season the Lady Bisons had over 10 hits in a game.

-          Rylie Haist started for the Bulldogs and received the loss. She falls to 0-1 on the season.

-          Emily Killion led Ferris State at the plate, going 3-for-3.

GAME TWO (Harding 17, Tiffin 2)

Riley Price got her sixth win of the season. She went three innings, gave up two earned runs and struck out four. Sarah Philips pitched two shutout innings in relief for Harding.

Riley Price and Jordan Cabana each went 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead Lady Bisons at the plate. Six different Harding players had multiple hits in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Harding got things started in the top of the first scoring five runs on five hits and an error. Riley Price, Jordan Cabana and Tori Turner each had an RBI in the inning.

Tiffin got a run back in the second on an RBI single.

The Dragons got another RBI single in the third inning.

Harding blew the game open in the fourth inning scoring 12 runs on eight hits and five errors. Riley Price, Jordan Cabana and Emma Curry all drove in two runs in the inning.

GAME NOTES

-          Harding had 15 hits in the game with nine players having a hit.

-          Tiffin's six errors were the most by an opponent this season.

-          Isabella St. Peter received the loss for the Dragons.

-          Reagan Mengerink led Tiffin at the plate going 2-for-2.

Harding will wrap up the invitational Sunday when it takes on Purdue Northwest at noon.
