SMYRNA, Tenn. – The Harding softball team picked up its third-straight win Sunday as the Lady Bisons defeated Purdue Northwest 8-0 in five innings. It was the final game for Harding in the Music City Invitational hosted by Trevecca.
Harding went 4-1 in the invitational and improve to 8-5 on the season.
Purdue Northwest falls to 5-2 on the season.
Riley Price picked up her seventh win of the season. Price started and threw four shutout innings. Abby Burch cleaned things up in the fifth and didn't allow a run and had two strikeouts.
Jordan Cabana and Kaya Lee each went 2-for-2 in the game for Harding.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Harding got on the board in the bottom of the first on RBIs by Chelsea Blankenship and Emma Curry.
The Lady Bisons added four more to their total in the second on three hits and two errors. Kaya Lee and Mariana Caro each had an RBI in the inning.
Harding made it 8-0 in the fourth scoring two runs on two hits. Chelsea Blankenship drove in her second RBI of the game.
GAME NOTES
- Harding had six hits in the game and held Purdue Northwest to only two.
- Hannah Rafferty-Flatter received the loss for Purdue Northwest and falls to 0-1 on the season.
- Purdue Northwest only had 16 at bats in the game.
NEXT UP
Harding will be back on the road next weekend when it opens Great American Conference play at Oklahoma Baptist. The three-game series is scheduled to start Friday at 5 p.m.
