SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Harding softball team fell to Oklahoma Baptist 4-2 Friday to open Great American Conference play.
Harding falls to 8-6 overall and 0-1 in the GAC.
Oklahoma Baptist improves to 7-6 overall and 1-0 in the GAC.
Riley Price started and received the loss throwing 4 1/3 innings. She gave up four earned runs and struck out three. Abby Burch came out of the pen and threw 1 2/3 innings and gave up one hit.
Tori Turner led Harding at the plate going 1-for-2 with a run scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Harding took a 1-0 lead in the third when Kaya Lee hit a double to left center that scored Tori Turner.
Harding made it 2-0 in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Jordan Cabana.
Oklahoma Baptist took the lead in the fifth scoring four runs. Ally Ryan highlighted the inning with a two-run double.
GAME NOTES
- Harding was held to only two hits.
- Oklahoma Baptist had five hits, four of them coming in the fifth inning.
- Kayleigh Jones got the win. She went the distance and had seven strikeouts.

The two teams will wrap up their series Saturday with a doubleheader starting at noon.
