SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Harding softball team dropped both games of the Great American Conference doubleheader at Oklahoma Baptist Saturday. Oklahoma Baptist won the first game 6-1 and the second game 6-5. Oklahoma Baptist won the series 3-0.
Harding falls to 8-8 overall and 0-3 in the GAC.
Oklahoma Baptist improves to 9-6 overall and 3-0 in the GAC.
GAME ONE (Oklahoma Baptist 6, Harding 1)
Abby Burch started for Harding and took the loss and falls to 1-3 on the season. She pitched 2 1/3 innings and had one strikeout. Sarah Philips pitched 3 1/3 shutout innings in relief for Harding. She gave up two hits, no runs and struck out one.
Macy Ham led Harding at the plate going 3-for-4 with a run scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Harding got on the board first in the top of the first when Jordan Cabana hit a single to left field that scored Macy Ham.
Oklahoma Baptist tied the game in the second when Morgan Max led off the inning with a home run.
Oklahoma Baptist broke the game open in the third scoring five runs on five hits.
GAME NOTES
- Harding was outhit 9-6.
- Maggie Place got the win for Oklahoma Baptist and improves to 2-4 on the season. She went the distance and had three strikeouts.
- Sammie Green and Morgan Max each had two hits in the game for Oklahoma Baptist.
GAME TWO (Oklahoma Baptist 6, Harding 5)
Riley Price started and took the loss for Harding. She threw five innings, gave up five earned runs. Price falls to 7-5 on the season. Sarah Philips and Abby Burch each threw a 2/3 of an inning in relief.
Jordan Cabana led Harding at the plate going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Oklahoma Baptist took a 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run homer by Ally Ryan.
Harding got a run back in the second on a solo home run by Jordan Cabana. It was her first of the season.
Oklahoma Baptist extended its lead to 4-1 in the fifth, scoring two runs on three hits.
Oklahoma Baptist made it 5-1 in the six on an RBI double by Adi Reese.
Harding mounted a comeback and tied the game in the top of the seventh scoring four runs on two hits and two errors. Lana Danielson highlighted the inning for Harding with a pinch hit two-run triple and then scored on an error.
Oklahoma Baptist walked it off in the seventh on an Emily Adler sacrifice fly.
NEXT UP
Harding will continue its road swing next weekend when it travels to Magnolia, Arkansas to take on Southern Arkansas in a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m.
