Softball Holds off Northwestern Oklahoma Friday

ENID, Okla. – Madison Fraley drove in two runs to lead the Harding softball team to a 4-2 win over Northwestern Oklahoma Friday in Great American Conference action.

The series is being played in Enid, Oklahoma due to facility improvement delays in Alva, Oklahoma.

The Lady Bisons have now won 13 straight games dating back to March 2.

Harding improves to 21-9 overall and 11-4 in the GAC.

Northwestern Oklahoma falls to 12-15 overall and 4-11 in the GAC.

Riley Price started and then reentered in the fifth to get the win. She improves her record to 13-6. Price went 5 2/3 innings, didn't give up an earned run and struck out four. Abby Burch pitched 1 1/3 inning of relief.

Seven different Lady Bisons had a hit in the game. Kaya Lee was the only Harding player with two hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Harding took a 1-0 lead in the second when Chelsea Blankenship scored on a Northwestern Oklahoma error.

The Lady Bisons added two more runs in the sixth on a two RBI double by Madison Fraley.

Harding took a 4-0 lead in the seventh on a solo home run by Jordan Cabana. It was her fourth of the season.

Northwestern Oklahoma battled back and scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh with only one out. Harding got a line out and a pop up to win the game.

GAME NOTES

-          Each team had eight hits in the game.

-          The Lady Bisons had three stolen bases.

-          Hannah Howell received the loss and falls to 6-3 on the season. She threw seven innings, gave up three earned runs and struck out two.

NEXT UP

The two teams will wrap up their three-game series with a doubleheader Saturday starting at noon.
