Harding Women's Tennis Drops GAC Opener to No. 11 Southern Arkansas

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Harding women's tennis opened Great American Conference play with a 5-2 loss to 11th-ranked Southern Arkansas on Thursday.

The loss dropped Harding to 10-6 overall with three additional wins over junior colleges and 0-1 in conference play. The Lady Bisons are back in action Friday at home at 10 a.m. against Missouri-St. Louis.

Harding won the doubles point against Southern Arkansas. Grace Dodd and Sofia Sarmiento Ruiz won 6-3 at No. 3, and Romane Britt and Karli Roux won 7-6 (3) at No. 1 doubles to clinch the point.

Dodd and Ruiz are 2-1 together and have won their last two pairings. Britt and Roux are a team-best 11-7 overall and 7-5 in dual matches.

Ruiz claimed Harding's lone singles victory. She won 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 5 singles. Ruiz leads the Lady Bisons with 14 overall singles wins and 10 dual victories.
