Harding Baseball Pounds East Central for 30th Win

SEARCY – Harding won its ninth straight game in a big way Monday and achieved a victory milestone first for Bison Baseball with a 16-5 triumph over East Central in the finale of the three-game series at ECU Baseball Field.

Harding's run total was its highest since scoring 17 in the first game of the season, and the Bisons improved to 30-14 overall and 21-9 in conference. With the victory today, Harding reached the 30-win in three consecutive seasons for the first time in program history. The Bisons won 32 games in 2022 and 33 in 2023. Harding's 21 conference wins also matches a program best from 2022.

Monday, Harding scored in every inning except the sixth. The Bisons had 14 hits, including five for extra bases, and drew eight walks.

Coulton Doyle walked three times and tied a career high with four runs scored.

Cooper Newsom and Jensen Presley each drove in three runs. Newsom reached base for the 15th straight game.

Logan Lacey hit his second home run of the season and fourth of his career.

Davis Welch (6-3) struck out seven over 5.2 innings in earning the win. It was his ninth start this season with five or more strikeouts. Javier Lobo did not allow hit in 2.1 relief innings, and Kyle Lane closed out the game by striking out three in the ninth.

Harding will play Ouachita Baptist on Tuesday in Arkadelphia before hosting Arkansas Tech over the weekend in Searcy.
