Harding Men's Soccer Falls to Christian Brothers Despite Late Goal

SEARCY - The Harding men's soccer team faced an uphill battle for the second consecutive game, trailing by three goals before Sikan Akpanudo scored in the 79th minute. Despite the late surge, Harding ultimately fell 3-1 to Christian Brothers on Saturday at Stevens Soccer Complex.

Christian Brothers, a Gulf South Conference team from Memphis, Tennessee, controlled the first half, leading 2-0 at the break. The visitors extended their lead to 3-0 in the 51st minute.

However, the Bisons battled back. In the 79th minute, Ethan Boles delivered a pinpoint cross to Akpanudo, who headed home his second career goal at the back post. Akpanudo previously scored against Ouachita Baptist in 2022. Boles earned his first career assist on the play.

Despite the late goal, Harding dropped to 0-2-0, with both losses coming by an identical 3-1 scoreline.

The Bisons will seek their first win of the season when they host Mississippi College, another Gulf South Conference opponent, on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in their third consecutive home game.
