Harding Remains Perfect at Home with 61-48 win over Tech

SEARCY — Harding women's basketball extended its home winning streak to 33 games with a 61-48 victory over Arkansas Tech in a Great American Conference matchup at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House on Thursday.

The Lady Bisons improved to 14-3 overall and 10-1 in conference play, maintaining a one-game lead in the GAC standings. Arkansas Tech fell to 3-12 overall and 1-10 in conference, extending its losing streak to nine games.

Sage Hawley led Harding with 17 points and 16 rebounds, marking her 61st career double-double, the most by any active player in NCAA Division II. Hawley also tied her career high with six blocked shots.

Harding took control early, with Hawley scoring seven straight points to give the Lady Bisons a 15-6 lead with 3:58 left in the first quarter. The team led 18-14 after the first quarter, fueled by 10 second-chance points and four 3-pointers.

Both teams struggled with their shooting in the second quarter, but Harding maintained a 29-22 halftime lead. The Lady Bisons outrebounded Tech 15-8 in the period and outscored them 11-8.
In the third quarter, Harding extended its lead to 46-31, thanks in part to Tech's 1-of-12 shooting stretch. Hawley's bank shot with 7:21 left gave Harding its first lead of more than 10 points.

The Lady Bisons pushed their lead to 16 points at 51-35 on a Josie Williams 3-pointer from the top of the key. Tech finally hit its first 3-pointer with 3:14 left in the game, but it was too little, too late.

Rory Geer added 10 points and nine rebounds for Harding, while Josie Williams had 10 points and four assists. Aubrey Isbell contributed nine points, six rebounds, and seven assists.

Harding's defense held Tech to 33.9% shooting, including 1 of 14 (7.1%) from 3-point range. AbbiGrace Cunningham led Tech with 14 points.

With the win, Harding tied its most consecutive wins in the series with Tech, with five straight victories.
