LAFAYETTE, La. – The Harding softball team got two victories Friday both by run-rules. The Lady Bisons defeated Alabama Huntsville 10-2 in six innings and No. 12 Mississippi College 10-2 in five innings.
Game One – Harding 10, Alabama Huntsville 2 (6 Innings)
Macy Ham had three hits and scored three runs, and Emma Curry hit a sixth-inning grand slam to lead Harding to a 10-2 victory over Alabama Huntsville on Friday.
The Lady Bisons scored two runs in the first inning, capitalizing on singles by Ham and Kaya Lee. Zoey Neal drove in both runs with a single.
The Chargers answered with a run in the bottom of the first on Jada Henderson's double, scoring Alexa Douthitt.
Harding broke the game open with four runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by RBI singles from Jadyn Booth and Riley Price.
Alabama-Huntsville scored an unearned run in the fifth, but Curry's grand slam in the sixth sealed the victory for the Lady Bisons.
Riley Price (1-0) earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits in five innings. Brooklyn Gobble pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
Megan Shurtz (0-1) took the loss for the Chargers, giving up six runs on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings.
Lawren Hayes scored twice and reached base three times for Alabama Huntsville.
Game Two – Harding 10, No. 12 Mississippi Col. 2 (5 Innings)
Harding softball remained undefeated on the season with a 10-2 victory over No. 12 Mississippi College on Friday.
The Lady Bisons (2-0) took an early lead in the first inning, capitalizing on an error by Mississippi College. Zoey Neal singled to center field, driving in two runs.
Mississippi College (1-1) tied the game in the top of the third, as Shelby Samples and Blakely Gill each doubled in a run.
Harding responded with three runs in the bottom of the third, highlighted by Lana Danielson's three-run homer to center field. The Lady Bisons added five more runs in the fourth inning, with Brooklyn Gobble and Bailey Willis contributing RBIs.
Gobble earned the win in the circle, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out three in five innings. Mississippi College's Madison Jenkins took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits in 2 1/3 innings.
Harding's offense was led by Neal, who went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Danielson, who hit a home run and drove in three runs. Samples had two hits and an RBI for Mississippi College.
Harding will be back in action Saturday when it faces No. 7 Augustana at 3:30 p.m., and Miles at 6 p.m.
