WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Harding threw punch after punch in a high-energy battle on the road Saturday, but a late goal by Southwestern Oklahoma proved decisive in a 2-1 Lady Bison loss at the SWOSU Athletic Complex.
Harding controlled much of the second half and broke through in the 50th minute when Calle Citty buried her third goal of the season with a low shot to the left side. The lead held for just over 14 minutes before SWOSU's Madelyn Kitchen found the upper corner to tie the match.
The Lady Bisons continued to defend with urgency, but the Bulldogs slipped in the game-winner in the 76th minute on a low finish from Laia Costa.
Harding outshot the Bulldogs 15-10 and dominated corner kicks 8-1 but couldn't find the equalizer in the closing minutes.
With the loss, Harding moved to 5-5-1 and 3-2-0 in the GAC (tied for third place with nine points), while Southwestern Oklahoma improved to 8-2-1 overall and in first place in the GAC (13 points).
The Lady Bisons return to action Saturday, Oct. 18, traveling to Arkadelphia to take on Ouachita Baptist at 1 p.m. at Kluck Field.
