ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – As the Lady Bisons took the field this morning at Kluck Field, Harding made its intentions clear—attack early and defend relentlessly.
The Bisons scored in the 17th minute, added a late insurance goal on a penalty kick, and leaned on a dominant defensive effort to shut out Ouachita Baptist 2–0 on Saturday in Great American Conference play.
Harding (6-5-1, 4-2-0 GAC) wasted no time applying pressure. In the 16th minute, Kloey Fullerton slipped a perfectly weighted pass to Mykala Ulrich, who buried her third goal of the season to put the Bisons on top.
The match remained tight deep into the second half, but Harding continued to win possession and generate chances, outshooting the Tigers 13-9 and earning eight corner kicks to five.
In the 79th minute, Harding was rewarded again. After drawing a foul in the box, Whitney Thomas calmly converted the penalty kick for her second goal of the year, doubling the lead and sealing the victory.
While the offense provided the spark, the defense set the tone. Goalkeeper Maysa Willis delivered a stellar performance, saving all five shots she faced to secure the shutout. Harding's back line frustrated Ouachita throughout the match, limiting clean looks and clearing danger repeatedly.
With the win, Harding improves to 6-5-1 overall and 4-2-0 in conference play. Ouachita Baptist falls to 4-5-4 and 3-1-3 in the GAC.
Harding will look to carry the momentum into a key road matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. when the Bisons face Oklahoma Baptist at the OBU Soccer Complex in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
