RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — No. 2 Harding dominated on the ground, rolling up 569 rushing yards, the fourth-most in program history, to defeat Arkansas Tech 47-13 in a Great American Conference game Saturday at Simmons Bank Field at Thone Stadium.The rushing bonanza pushed Harding over 5,000 rushing yards for the third straight season and sixth time in program history.
The win pushed the Bisons to 11-0, secured Harding's third undefeated regular season (joining 2016 and 2023) and marked the ninth consecutive victory for the Bisons over the Wonder Boys. The victory also knotted the long-standing series between the two rivals for the first time, now tied 31-31.
Harding's devastating triple-option offense featured three 100-yard rushers, a feat the program last accomplished in 2021 against Northwestern Oklahoma.
- Andrew Miller led the charge with 203 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries. It was his second 200-yard rushing game of the season and third of his career. Miller has 1,363 rushing yards this season, good for fifth all-time at Harding. His 19 rushing TD this season ranks tied for fourth in an HU single season.
- Cole Keylon amassed 116 yards on just six carries. It was his first 100-yard rushing game of the season and fourth of his career.
- Braden Jay added 109 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. It was his fifth 100-yard game of the season and 14th of his career.
The 569 rushing yards marked the fourth consecutive game the Bisons have surpassed the 500-yard rushing mark. Harding averaged 9.5 yards per rush.
Harding established an early lead on their first possession with an 89-yard drive, capped by Christian Franklin's 16-yard pitch-right touchdown run (his eighth of the season) for a 7-0 lead.
Arkansas Tech countered in the second quarter with a 75-yard drive, tying the game at 7-7 with a 3-yard TD pass from Carter Hensley to Jared Long.
Harding immediately responded. A drive that stalled at the 11-yard line led to a 28-yard field goal by Magnus Lepak (his sixth of the season), making it 10-7. Braden Jay then broke free for a 54-yard touchdown run around the left end (his 16th rushing TD), giving the Bisons a 17-7 halftime lead.
At the break, Harding already had 238 rushing yards. Tech was held to 148 total yards (85 passing, 63 rushing) and missed a field goal attempt off the goalpost just before the half.
The third quarter saw the Bisons explode for 16 points to put the game out of reach.
- Harding scored on the third play of the half when a 59-yard run by Keylon set up a 4-yard TD run by Miller, extending the lead to 24-7.
- Miller struck again on the next possession's first play, scampering 71 yards for a touchdown, making it 31-7.
- Arkansas Tech briefly answered with a 3-yard run by Carldell Sirmons. However, Harding's Justin Sobczak blocked the extra point and Curtis Jackson returned it 88 yards for a defensive two-point conversion, making the score 33-13.
Miller capped a time-consuming 93-yard, 7:46-minute drive with his third touchdown, a 1-yard plunge with 9:37 left in the game for a 40-13 advantage. The final score came after a Luke Martin 43-yard interception return set up a 12-yard touchdown run by Brandon Hines, Jr.
Harding finishes the regular season undefeated and will now look ahead to the NCAA Division II playoffs. The 32-team field will be announced Sunday at 5 p.m. on NCAA.com.
