SEARCY — For the first time in program history, nine Harding football players have been named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Super Region 4 Team, officials announced Thursday.
The nine selections set a new program record, surpassing the previous high of eight honorees set by the 2016 squad. The Bisons dominated the voting with a region-high six First Team selections—double the number of any other school in the region—and added three selections on the Second Team.
Harding's offensive line, the engine of the nation's top-ranked rushing attack, claimed three of the five available First Team spots. Seniors Mike Ericson and Jake Mitchell were joined by sophomore Cobe Williams to headline the group. The trio has paved the way for a historic ground game that leads NCAA Division II with 455.3 rushing yards per game.
Running behind that line is First Team selection Andrew Miller. The junior Harlon Hill finalist has shattered the Harding single-season record with 1,730 rushing yards while finding the end zone 23 times—just one shy of the school record. Miller is averaging a staggering 8.1 yards per carry.
On defense, senior safety Ty Dugger earned his third consecutive All-Region nod, anchoring a secondary that leads the country in passing efficiency defense and allows just 129.8 passing yards per game. He was joined on the First Team by senior linebacker Clark Griffin (131 tackles), a three-time honoree who leads the Great American Conference in tackles and commands a unit allowing a nation-best 8.2 points per game.
Harding's representation continued on the Second Team with senior running back Braden Jay, who has rushed for 1,247 yards on an explosive 12.6 yards per carry with 19 touchdowns. He is joined by junior defensive lineman Justin Sobczak (8.0 sacks) and senior cornerback Troy Wiseman (6 PBU), both key pieces of a defense that ranks No. 1 nationally in total defense (240.4 yards per game).
The Great American Conference (GAC) collected 12 total selections, with Harding accounting for nine of them.
While Harding dominated the team count, individual superlatives went to the RMAC and MIAA. Western Colorado quarterback Drew Nash was named the Super Region 4 Offensive Player of the Year, and Emporia State linebacker Landon Boss earned Defensive Player of the Year honors.
The D2CCA All-Region teams are voted on by the region's sports information directors. All six of Harding's First Team selections will advance to the national ballot for D2CCA All-America consideration.
