MONTICELLO, Ark. — Freshman Alli McAda erupted for a career-high 30 points and 13 rebounds to power No. 12 Harding to an 86-64 victory over Arkansas-Monticello on Tuesday night at Steelman Fieldhouse.
Bouncing back from its first loss of the season, Harding (8-1, 2-1 Great American Conference) dismantled one of the nation's top defenses. Arkansas-Monticello entered the contest ranked No. 24 nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 53.5 points per game. The Lady Bisons nearly matched that total in the first half alone, taking a 50-29 lead into the break.
McAda, who entered the game averaging 4.5 points per game, was dominant from every level. She shot 12-of-17 from the field and 5-of-7 from 3-point range to secure her first career double-double. She became the first Harding player ever to score 30 points on the road against Arkansas-Monticello.
Junior guard Josie Williams flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 14 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists without committing a turnover. The duo helped Harding shoot 51.7% (30-of-58) from the floor against a UAM defense that had been holding opponents to 34.5% shooting.
Harding seized control early, shooting 64.7% in the first quarter to build a 25-16 lead. They matched that scoring output in the second quarter, outscoring the Blossoms 25-13 to blow the game open. The lead grew to as many as 28 points in the fourth quarter.
Arkansas-Monticello (5-4, 0-3) struggled to keep pace, shooting just 3-of-19 (15.8%) from 3-point range. Alindsey Long, UAM's leading scorer coming into the night, was held to 11 points on 5-of-16 shooting.
Myiah Butler provided a spark off the Harding bench with nine points on perfect 3-of-3 shooting.
The victory marks Harding's 11th consecutive win over Arkansas-Monticello.
