Hawley's 65th Double-Double Lifts Harding Past East Central, 60-56

SEARCY, Ark. — Sage Hawley scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, leading Harding to a 60-56 victory over East Central on Friday.

The double-double was Hawley's 65th of her career, moving her into sixth place all-time in NCAA Division II women's basketball.

Hawley, who shot 11-of-18 from the field, also blocked a career-high seven shots, tying for third-most in a game in program history.

Josie Williams added 12 points and six rebounds for Harding, which won its 11th consecutive game against East Central.

Katie Edelen led East Central (9-14, 7-12 GAC) with 18 points, and Eva Fernandez added 15 points.

In the fourth quarter, East Central pulled within four points multiple times, but Harding made key free throws down the stretch to hold on for the win. With 3:31 remaining, Rory Geer made two free throws to push Harding's lead to eight. East Central cut the deficit to four points with 1:49 left, but Harding's defense held strong.

Harding remained in second place in the GAC standings, one game behind Southern Nazarene.

The Lady Bisons will return to action on Sunday, hosting Southeastern Oklahoma at 1 p.m. in the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
