No. 30 Harding Sweeps Doubleheader Against Southwestern Oklahoma

SEARCY, Ark. — No. 30 Harding made history on Sunday, sweeping a doubleheader against Southwestern Oklahoma to improve to 12-1 after 13 games for the first time in program history. The Bisons won game one 7-2 and game two 9-1.

In game one, Harding's Maddox Long delivered a dominant performance, pitching six shutout innings and allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out 10. The 10 strikeouts propelled Long to a milestone, making him the first Harding pitcher ever to reach 300 career strikeouts. Long also earned his 22nd career win, moving him into a tie for second all-time at Harding with Matt Walter.

At the plate, Coulton Doyle homered to left center in the fifth inning, capping a six-run inning for the Bisons. Doyle finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Logan Lacey doubled and scored in the fourth inning, and Nathan Bowie tripled and scored in the fifth.

In game two, Collin Helms hit a grand slam in the fourth inning, highlighting a seven-run inning for the Bisons. Helms finished 2-for-3 with a career-high five RBIs. Nathan Bowie and Logan Lacey each scored twice, and Coulton Doyle walked and scored in the fourth inning.

Merritt Jay (4-0) earned the win in game two, allowing one run on two hits in five innings. Drew Fifer (1-1) took the loss, allowing eight runs on three hits in 3.2 innings.

Harding's doubleheader sweep extended its winning streak to 10 games. The Bisons will look to make it 11 in a row on Monday, when they conclude their three-game series against Southwestern Oklahoma at 1 p.m. in Searcy.
