Harding Takes Down Oklahoma Baptist 84-79

SHAWNEE, Okla. — Keyln McBride and Rylie Marshall both scored 21 points to help Harding secure an 84-79 victory over Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday in Great American Conference play at the Noble Center.

Sam Smith chipped in 18 points and Wesley Booker had 10 rebounds for the Bisons, who improved to 14-7 overall and 10-5 in conference play. The win was the Bisons' fifth straight and moves Harding into a tie for second place in the conference standings. Harding's next action is Saturday at conference leader Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Oklahoma.

Nathan Wilson led Oklahoma Baptist with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Daniel Ransom added 22 points and Terry Coner Jr. had 15 points.

The Bisons led by as many as 10 points in the first half, but Oklahoma Baptist pulled within 39-34 at halftime. Oklahoma Baptist took its first lead of the second half, 47-46, on a free throw by Nathan Wilson with 15:49 remaining.

The game remained close throughout the second half, with neither team leading by more than four points. Marshall's 3-pointer with 1:49 remaining gave Harding a 78-75 lead, and after Oklahoma Baptist pulled within one, Marshall and McBride combined to make 6 of 8 free throws in the final 53 seconds to seal the win.

Marshall's 21-point performance marked his seventh game with 20 or more points this season and 13th of his career. McBride also reached the 20-point mark for the fifth time this season and ninth time in his career.

Harding's 14 overall wins are the most since the 2016-17 team went 14-13 overall, and its 10 conference wins are the most since the 2016-17 team went 11-11 in conference. The win also marked Harding's first victory in Shawnee since 2016.
