DURANT, Okla. — Maddox Long pitched seven shutout innings and Javier Lobo closed out the game with two perfect innings as Harding defeated Southeastern Oklahoma 3-0 in Great American Conference baseball action Friday.
With the win, Maddox Long captured his 25th career win which tied Lucas Waddell (2010-13) for the school record.
Harding (22-5, 13-3 GAC) managed just six hits, but made them count, scoring single runs in the fifth and eighth innings. Sebastian Martinez led off the fifth with a solo home run to right field, giving the Bisons a 1-0 lead. Ty Kirkbride followed with a single, stole second and scored on a single by Logan Lacey, making it 2-0.
The Bisons added an insurance run in the eighth when Coulton Doyle doubled home Harrison Griffith, who had doubled earlier in the inning.
Long (7-1) scattered three hits and struck out 10, while Lobo earned his third save of the season. Daniel Collins (1-3) took the loss for Southeastern Oklahoma (10-17, 8-8 GAC), allowing two runs on four hits in five innings.
The two teams will be wrap up their series Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
