Softball Sweeps Doubleheader to Win 15 Straight

SEARCY – The 13th-ranked Harding softball team continued its winning ways Friday sweeping Southeastern Oklahoma in a Great American Conference doubleheader. The Lady Bisons won 10-2 in six innings and 3-0.

Harding improves to 29-3 overall and 15-1 in the GAC. Harding's winning streak is the longest since the Lady Bisons won 15-straight in 2021. Harding won a school record 27 straight in 2017.

Southeastern Oklahoma falls to 14-17 overall and 7-9 in the GAC.

 

GAME ONE – Harding 10, Southeastern Oklahoma 2 – Six Innings

The 13th-ranked Harding softball team used a six-run fourth inning to pull away from Southeastern Oklahoma, earning a 10-2 victory in the first game of their doubleheader.

Macy Ham led the Lady Bisons, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and three stolen bases. Kaya Lee and Emma Curry also had two hits apiece, with Lee driving in a run and Curry scoring twice.

The Lady Bisons took an early lead in the first inning, as Ham walked, stole second, and scored on Zoey Neal's RBI single.

The game remained 1-0 until the fourth inning, when Harding's offense exploded for six runs. The Lady Bisons took advantage of two Southeastern Oklahoma errors to score six runs, with Jadyn Booth highlighting the inning with a two-run double.

Southeastern Oklahoma scored its only runs in the sixth inning, as Kennedy Morgan singled home two runs with a bases-loaded single.

Avery Booker improved to 9-0 in the circle, allowing two runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings. Brooklyn Gobble retired the only batter she faced to close out the game.

Alyson Malone received the loss for Southeastern Oklahoma and falls to 1-2 on the season.

 

GAME TWO – Harding 3, Southeastern Oklahoma 0

Brooklyn Gobble pitched a complete game shutout, striking out eight, as No. 13 Harding defeated Southeastern Oklahoma 3-0 in game two.

The Lady Bison took an early lead in the first inning. Macy Ham walked, stole second, and scored on Kaya Lee's RBI single. Lee then stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on Zoey Neal's sacrifice fly.

Harding added an insurance run in the third inning. Gobble doubled, advanced to third on Ham's sacrifice bunt, and scored on Lee's RBI single.

Gobble (12-1) allowed just two hits and one walk in seven innings, earning the win. It was her fifth complete game this season and her third shutout. Emily Simmons (9-6) took the loss for Southeastern Oklahoma, allowing three runs on six hits in six innings.

 

The two teams will wrap up their three-game series with a single game Saturday starting at noon.
