SEARCY — Ouachita Baptist defeated No. 16 Harding 4-3 in a men's tennis match Tuesday, dropping the Bisons to second place in the MIAA South-Division standings.
Harding (12-5, 2-1 MIAA South) took the doubles point, with the No. 27-ranked duo of Cas de Ruiter and Adrian Solorzano defeating No. 5 Phil Exner and Ramon Strassmann 7-6 (7-4). Florian Gayme and Cian Mikkelsen won their doubles match 6-3, and Edoardo D'Arrigo and Caleb Folse also earned a 6-4 victory.
However, Ouachita Baptist (12-8, 4-0 MIAA South) claimed four of the six singles matches to secure the overall win. No. 1 Phil Exner defeated No. 10 Cas de Ruiter 6-3, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, and No. 62 Ramon Strassmann topped No. 19 Adrian Solorzano 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). Elias Lagger and Aaron Osmond also earned singles victories for the Tigers.
Harding's wins in singles came from Caleb Folse, who defeated Yarin Aebi 6-3, 1-6, 6-1, and Luis Agullo, who beat Moritz Buss 6-3, 6-0.
The Bisons will play a nonconference match at home against Newman on Friday at 2 p.m.
