Harding Men's Tennis Sweeps Arkansas-Fort Smith 7-0 in MIAA-South Division Opener

Box Score CONWAY, Ark. – The 14th-ranked Harding men's tennis team got off to a perfect start in conference play, sweeping Arkansas-Fort Smith 7-0 in their first MIAA-South Division match. Due to torrential rain in Searcy, the match was relocated to the indoor Hatcher Tennis Center on the campus of Hendrix College.

The victory marked Harding's fourth straight win and seventh in their last eight matches, improving their overall record to 11-4 and conference record to 1-0. The Bison's next MIAA match is scheduled for Friday, April 11, against 39th-ranked Southern Arkansas in Searcy.

In a dominant display, Harding swept all three doubles matches for the fifth time in their last seven matches. The 24th-ranked duo of Cas de Ruiter and Adrian Solorzano led the way, winning 6-2 at No. 1, while the No. 47 team of Florian Gayme and Cian Mikkelsen took their match 6-4 at No. 2. Edoardo D'Arrigo and Caleb Folse secured their team-best 10th dual doubles win, defeating their opponents 7-5 at No. 3.

The Bison also dominated in singles, winning all six matches. In a highly competitive matchup, Harding's No. 9 de Ruiter outlasted UAFS's No. 48-ranked Eduardo Bribliesca 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 1 singles. Meanwhile, 30th-ranked Solorzano claimed a 6-4, 7-6 victory at No. 2, and Mikkelsen won 7-6, 6-0 at No. 3. De Ruiter's win proved pivotal, earning Harding's fourth point and clinching the match.

In the remaining singles matches, Caleb Folse took the win at No. 4, Luis Agullo secured a three-set victory at No. 5, and D'Arrigo won in straight sets at No. 6.
