SEARCY — A late goal from senior forward Whitney Thomas helped the Harding women's soccer team secure a 1-1 draw against Christian Brothers on Wednesday evening in nonconference action at Stevens Soccer Complex.
The tie moves Harding's record to 0-1-1 on the season, while Christian Brothers now stands at 0-2-1.
Christian Brothers, a member of the NCAA II Gulf South Conference from Memphis, Tennessee, got on the scoreboard first in the 38th minute when Addie Hurt took a pass from Elisa Cruz and found the back of the net, giving the visiting team a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Harding's comeback came in the 84th minute, as Thomas connected with a pass from sophomore Katie Jones and beat the Christian Brothers goalkeeper with a shot from the left side. The goal was Thomas's second of the season.
Both teams had 13 shots in the evenly matched contest, with Christian Brothers holding a slight 7-6 edge in shots on goal. Christian Brothers' goalkeeper, Kaylee Allen, made five saves, while Harding split time in goal between Maysa Willis and Lucy Riddle. Willis played the first half and recorded two saves, while Riddle held Christian Brothers scoreless in the second half with three saves.
The Lady Bisons will return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. when they travel to Rogers State in Claremore, Oklahoma.
