CLAREMORE, Okla. – A quick-fire offensive burst in the first half propelled the Harding women's soccer team to its first victory of the season, a 2-1 defeat of Rogers State at Soldier Field on Saturday.
The Lady Bisons (1-1-1) wasted no time in taking control. Junior defender Calle Citty scored the first goal at the 28:28 mark, assisted by senior Regan Thompson. Less than a minute later, at 29:17, freshman forward Maddie Adams doubled the lead with her first career collegiate goal.
Rogers State (0-2-2) responded in the second half when Khari Carreno scored at 62:25, but the Lady Bisons' defense held firm, thwarting any further comeback attempts.
Harding dominated the stat sheet, outshooting Rogers State 20-8 and holding a significant advantage in shots on goal (8-3) and corner kicks (10-2). Junior goalkeeper Maysa Willis made two saves for the Bisons, while Rogers State's goalkeeper Calais Butts recorded six saves.
The Lady Bisons will look to continue their winning momentum when they travel to Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to face Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday at 4 p.m.
