Bishop, Fouche lead Harding to GAC Win

SEARCY, Ark. — The Harding volleyball team swept Arkansas-Monticello 3-0 (25-4, 25-18, 25-13) Saturday in Great American Conference action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

Harding improves to 11-3 overall and 2-1 in the GAC.

Arkansas-Monticello falls to 3-9 and 0-3 in the GAC.

The offensive attack was balanced and highly efficient, spearheaded by Josie Bishop, who led the team with seven kills on just 13 attempts for a .462 hitting percentage. The attack was dictated by setter Olivia Wiedower, who distributed 22 assists and contributed with 11 digs.

The service game was led by Carter Fouche, who recorded a career-high six aces, and Avery Stanfill, who added two. Fouche's serving provided the final push in the third set, delivering two consecutive aces, including the match winner.

Set-by-Set Scores

First Set (Harding 25, Ark.-Monticello 4): The Lady Bisons dominated early, taking a 7-0 lead on four UAM errors and two kills. The team hit a .565 for the set, closing the frame on a dominant 14-1 run. Jacey Lambert led Harding with five kills on six attacks in the set, and Stanfill recorded two service aces.

Second Set (Harding 25, Ark.-Monticello 18): Harding never trailed in the set, despite the Blossoms' best effort. Kills from Ella Drake, Maegan Jones and Payton Hilmer built an early 6-0 lead. UAM cut the lead to 21−18 but Harding closed out the set with two kills by Ella Drake.

Third Set (Harding 25, Ark.-Monticello 13): Harding controlled the final set, pulling away behind the strength of its serving. Leading 22-13, Carter Fouche took over at the service line, running off two straight aces to complete the 25−13 victory. Fouche had five aces in the set.

The Lady Bisons will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Magnolia, Arkansas to take on Southern Arkansas at 6 p.m.
