SEARCY — Reggie Webster led all scorers with 23 points, and Marko Rangan added 14 off the bench as Harding used a strong second half to defeat Southern Arkansas 66-52 on Saturday night at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
Harding (9-3, 5-1 GAC) extended its home winning streak to 11 games, tied for the fifth-longest in program history, and bounced back from its first conference loss of the season. The Bisons outscored the Muleriders 39-22 in the second half, erasing a 30-27 halftime deficit.
Webster, a freshman, shot 9-of-14 from the field and pulled down nine rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double. Rangan was efficient in relief, shooting 5-of-8 from the floor and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line while adding seven rebounds and five assists.
The game was a defensive battle throughout, particularly in the first half where neither team could find a consistent rhythm. Southern Arkansas (5-7, 2-4 GAC) led by as many as nine points in the first period, fueled by nine first-half points from Kendal Parker.
However, Harding's defense clamped down after the break, holding the Muleriders to just 29.6 percent shooting in the second half. The Bisons capitalized on SAU's cold shooting, turning a tight game into a double-digit lead midway through the second period. A 14-4 run, capped by a Webster 3-pointer with 1:29 remaining, pushed the lead to 14 and effectively put the game away.
Harding dominated the glass, outrebounding Southern Arkansas 39-28. The Bisons also controlled the paint, outscoring the Muleriders 30-24 inside.
Kendal Parker and Roderick Williams Jr. led Southern Arkansas with nine points each. Greg Moore Jr., the GAC's leading free-throw shooter entering the game, was held to eight points on 3-of-6 shooting.
Keyln McBride, who entered the game needing four 3-pointers to reach 200 for his career, made one triple to move his total to 197. He finished with three points and six assists.
Harding returns to action Thursday on the road against Southern Nazarene.
