BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — 3rd-year golfer Ethan Law carded an opening-round 3-under 69 to lead the Harding men's golf team on the first day of the Tulsa Cup at The Club at Indian Springs River Course on Monday.
The Bisons posted rounds of 298 and 295 to finish 36 holes in ninth place at 17-over par 593 on the par-72, 6,932-yard layout. Bemidji State leads the 20-team field at 4-over 580 (290-290), two strokes ahead of tournament host Rogers State (+6, 582).
Law followed his morning 69 with a 1-over 73 in the afternoon, finishing the day tied for seventh place in the 104-player field at 2-under 142. Coming off a school-record-tying 64 at the Skip Wagnon Invitational three weeks ago, Law poured in nine birdies on Monday to tie for the second-most in the field while adding a tie for sixth in par-5 scoring at 3-under (4.63 average).
4th-year Conner Geist engineered a major afternoon bounce-back, shaving eight strokes off his opening round with a 1-over 73 to sit tied for 67th at 10-over 154. Geist highlighted his second round by holing out for an eagle 2 on the par-4 18th hole.
2nd-year William Pulley turned in consistent rounds of 75 and 75 to sit tied for 40th at 6-over 150. 4th-year Easton Denney posted scores of 77 and 74 to tie for 47th at 7-over 151, limiting damage with just four bogeys over 36 holes. 1st-year Salvador Villagomez Gomez rounded out the Bison lineup tied for 57th at 9-over 153 (77-76).
As a team, Harding racked up 28 birdies on Monday, the fourth-highest team total in the field.
Bemidji State's Teagan LaPlante holds the individual 36-hole lead at 6-under 138 (71-67), two shots clear of a four-way tie for second place at 4-under 140.
The final round of the Tulsa Cup concludes Tuesday morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start at Indian Springs.
