SEARCY, Ark. —Mykala Ulrich made Senior Day one to remember on Saturday afternoon, scoring the game's only goal to lift the Harding women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma at the Stevens Soccer Complex.
After the game, Harding honored Maysa Willis, Gabie Eddins, Kendall Jerkins, Natalie Gomez, Calle Citty, Sami Berry and Parker Barrow for their contributions to the Lady Bison soccer program.
Ulrich delivered the decisive strike in the 20th minute, finishing off a feed from Gabie Eddins at the 19:12 mark. The goal was Ulrich's team-leading fourth of the season and provided the ultimate Senior Day gift for the Lady Bisons (5-4-1, 4-1-0 GAC) as they picked up their fourth Great American Conference win.
Harding dictated the tempo in the opening half, outshooting the Bulldogs 9-7 through the first 45 minutes and forcing five total saves on the day from SWOSU keeper Lelu Lamb.
Southwestern Oklahoma (4-3-4, 2-2-1 GAC) pressed for an equalizer after the break, but senior goalkeeper Maysa Willis anchor-legged a stout defensive front to keep the Bulldogs off the board. Willis turned away all five shots on target she faced over 90 minutes to secure the clean sheet.
The Lady Bisons finished with a 15-12 advantage in overall shots (6-5 on goal) and held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks in a physical conference battle that featured 20 total fouls.
Harding will be back in action Wednesday when it hosts Ouachita Baptist at 3 p.m.
